Welcome to St. Ann’s!

We are so excited that you have decided to send your child to our preschool program.  My name is Melissa McElroy and I will be your child’s teacher.  I have been the Preschool teacher at St. Ann since 2014. I have spent the previous eight years working with preschoolers in other schools.  I am excited to be a part of St. Ann’s family and enjoy working with such a supportive and positive team.

The preschool years are such an important and impressionable time.

They offer a wonderful opportunity to teach and minister to our children and get them excited about school from the beginning. By sending your child to preschool, you are providing for them a wonderful foundation in which the rest of their school years will be built upon. Furthermore, by sending them to a Catholic school, you are allowing them to continue on their faith journey and be in not only an academically rich, but a Christian environment. What greater gift can you provide for your child than the gift of knowing Jesus and encouraging a love for Him!

As your child’s preschool teacher.

my goal is to provide your child with an educational experience that will help prepare him or her for kindergarten. I believe that social skills and academic skills both play important roles in forming a well rounded individual. Preschool is a wonderful time for students to learn important social skills such as sharing and taking turns in order to help them form positive relationships. There will be large and small group instruction as well as opportunities for individualized attention. During the course of the day, art and music will be used in order to enrich the curriculum and provide a creative outlet for the children. There will be center time and gross motor time. Since a full day program is offered, there will be a period of rest for their little bodies in which we will encourage naps and allow for lunch so that they can have some down time and be rejuvenated for the afternoon. The curriculum will follow the Archdiocesan Graded Course of Study and the Ohio Early Learning Development Standards. You can find information about these at www.catholiccincinnati.org and education.ohio.gov.

I am a firm believer in a positive teacher-parent relationship. As I said above, I am a parent also, so I understand your fears and your joys in regards to your child. It is so important that we work together in order for your child to have the best possible education.

This is just a glimpse of the preschool program at St. Ann’s. Stay tuned for more details! I look forward to meeting you and your child!

God Bless,
Melissa McElroy
